Apple Crumble

30 mins

Ingredients

For apples:

• 6-8 medium apples (about 6 cups), peeled, cored, and cubed (we mixed Granny Smith and Evercrisp)

• 1/2 cup granulated sugar

• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• Pinch of salt

• 1/2 cup butter

For Crumble:

• 1 box (15.25 oz) Yellow Cake Mix (White or Spice cake mix also works well)

• 1 tablespoon melted butter

• ¼ cup sugar

• 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

• 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

• 1 stick (1/2 cup) Unsalted Butter (cubed)

Cooking Guide

1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 450 F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

2. Add Apple Filling: Combine the sliced apples, sugar, butter, salt and cinnamon in a bowl and toss to combine. Pour into greased baking dish

3. Prepare the crumble: To the same bowl the apples were mixed in, add cake mix, melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, chopped walnuts, and cubed butter. Mix together

4. Combine & Bake: Add the crumble topping to the baking dish, covering the apples. Bake for 15 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly around the edges.

5. Serve: Let it cool slightly for about 10-15 minutes, then serve

Tips and Tricks

• Ice cream or caramel sauce are great toppings

• Put the apples in a bath of water and lemon juice to stop from oxidizing and then drain before seasoning them
